community service

CPR2U was founded in 1999 by Dr. Tom Sherwin, a Pediatric ER Physician at LLUMC.

Dr. Sherwin knew his community could greatly benefit from life-saving CPR training to help prevent needless suffering, death or permanent disability too often the result of tragic circumstances when family and friends don't know what to do in an emergency.

Solely funded by grants and donations, AHA-certified, volunteer instructors have trained over 9,000 Inland Empire residents.

With more CPR training and early access to an AED, the AHA estimates we could save as many as 50,000 lives every year. AED training is a part of all CPR2U course curricula.

Please e-mail us for more information and to schedule an on-site CPR class for groups at your facility offered in English or Spanish throughout Riverside and San Bernardino counties. CPR2U is the only AHA-affiliated organization in the U.S. providing free and low-cost instruction.

2009 Class Schedule

CPR2U and The Unforgettables Foundation are 501(c)(3) non-profit charities. There is no charge for classes taught by our volunteer instructors; however, a tax-deductible donation would be greatly appreciated when possible to help cover the cost of each participant's certification card, training supplies and supplemental handouts.

To earn an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED or First Aid certification card, a current copy of an AHA class manual must be brought to class with attending participants or purchased at the beginning of course instruction. Under special circumstances, application may be made for a subsidized Heartsaver training manual. Family & Friends CPR and Heartsaver CPR in Schools texts are provided at no charge.

Monthly CPR/AED classes are generously hosted by our friends at the Riverside YWCA usually held on the first Saturday of every month from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm. Phone (951) 687-9922 to pre-register and please sign up early as space and class size are limited.

Many advanced classes, including BLS for Heathlcare Providers, ACLS, PALS, and APLS courses, can be scheduled through CPR2U's nationally renowned AHA Training Center, the National Institute for Healthcare Education.

Annually 31 million children will require emergency medical treatment due to acute illness, respiratory distress, or as victims of trauma, choking, airway obstruction, near drownings, electrical shock, or poisoning.

Knowledge, safety, and prevention are the best and first lines of defense against accidental tragedy coupled with a CPR-skill set which anyone can quickly learn and effectively apply in an emergency.

Please get this training and encourage your family and friends to do the same. CPR saves lives.
